Dr. Szalma is a research scientist at the Institute for Simulation and Training and director of the MIT2/MURI-OPUS laboratory in the psychology department. Dr. Szalma’s current research efforts are aimed at testing theoretical models of vigilance workload, stress and performance. As part of this work, he is investigating individual differences in personality and their relation to performance, workload, stress, and coping strategies. He is investigating these issues in the context of different cognitive and perceptual tasks, including friend/foe identification, working memory performance, automation tasks, and spatial and temporal perception.
