Mark Yerkes represents IST at modeling and simulation organizations and on committees and boards and interacts with a variety of government agencies (non-DoD). He helps organize and facilitate the submission of proposals in the modeling and simulation field and works with research faculty on real-world projects. As a US Navy Captain USN(ret) he served as the Commanding Officer of the Naval Air Warfare Center (Training Systems Division) Orlando Florida, leading and developing 1100 person government team in modeling, simulation and training systems with over $1.1B annual budget. The team executed over 500 different programs for a diverse customer and product base while maintaining and modernizing 2500 training devices ($3.5B inventory) fielded across the U.S.
