The Opportunity
University of Central Florida invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Research Scholar position in the School of Modeling Simulation and Training. The postdoctoral fellow will work on a funded project, focused on the design, development, and testing of human (meta)-digital twins (HDTs) to tackle basic core research and applied research in healthcare, defense, and K-12. The aim of the project is to build an ecosystem by which new DT may be introduced to interact with existing DTs and thereby developing a digital replicable of the real world.
This endeavor will require the collection, analysis, and use of physical assets (e.g., multimodal human data such as gaze behaviors, physiological responses, facial expressions of emotions, verbalizations, behaviors) by an interdisciplinary team of scholars and industry partners within fields of Psychology, Computer Science, Data Science, Modeling and Simulation, Cybersecurity, and Engineering. The candidate will be involved in the conceptualization of laboratory and real-world research studies involving adult participants (e.g., healthcare professionals, defense contractors, first responders, tradesmen, etc.), collection of multimodal multichannel data (e.g., log files, eye-tracking, physiological sensors, facial expressions of emotions, etc.), using various technological platforms and equipment for research purposes (e.g., virtual reality, augmented reality, computer-based simulations), analysis and interpretation of multimodal multichannel data, submission and dissemination of research findings for conferences and peer-reviewed publications, and active participation in the iterative design of the HDT ecosystem.
The candidate will work with Drs. Azevedo and Bochenek and their team to coordinate project milestones, coordinate and attend team meetings, contribute to annual reports, train and facilitate the management of team members, lead and contribute to scholarly collaborative writing, and conduct research with members of the interdisciplinary team, including fellow researchers, industry partners, and government officials. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal, writing, and research skills, strong time management and organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and work both independently and as an active team member.
